Short Bio
Laura Hill has been enthusiastically promoting the award-winning Encyclopedia of Alabama--a free online reference resource on Alabama’s history, culture, geography, and natural environment--since 2006. She has more than 30 years of public relations experience, including work with nonprofit educational and arts organizations in Germany, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. Hill served on the education committee for Alabama Bicentennial Commission and was a member of Alabama's World War I Centennial Committee. She is an active member of the Alabama Historical Association and has presented papers at its annual meetings, including one on the Montgomery Motor Corps (a WWI era women’s service organization). She has been published in Alabama Heritage Magazine, with an article on the formation of the Alabama League of Women Voters (2021) and one on the Alabama leg of transcontinental publicity tour for women’s suffrage in a car named the Golden Flyer (2024). She has also made several presentations of the women suffragists of East Alabama.
