On October 4, Kiesel Park in Auburn came alive with energy and purpose as more than 180 participants—students, families, and local residents—gathered for a charity marathon hosted by Korea Corner. Organized by the Korea Corner Youth Leadership Program, the event featured a one-mile walk and a 5K run, all in support of the Big House Foundation, a local foster care organization.
The youth-led initiative showcased the leadership and dedication of Korean-American high school students from Auburn and surrounding areas. These students took charge of every aspect of the event—from creating promotional videos and securing sponsorships to managing logistics on the day of the race.
Under the motto “Small actions create a big impact,” the Korea Corner Youth Leadership Program has long supported the Big House Foundation. This year’s marathon proceeds and donations will go directly to the foundation, continuing the program’s tradition of meaningful community engagement.
A Korea Corner representative shared, “Through participation, giving, and sharing, we hope our youth learn the value of generosity and that the Korean community can come together with other communities across the United States.”
The Youth Leadership Program provides Korean-American students in grades 9–12 with leadership training, mentoring, and service opportunities. Supported by the Overseas Koreans Agency and the Korean Community Education Foundation’s Scholarship initiative, the program connects students with mentors from across the U.S., helping them grow as civic-minded leaders.
