Clara Ragan’s Auburn experience transformed her career path from law to public health, thanks to generous scholarships that allowed her to slow down, explore new interests and engage deeply in campus life. Alongside double majors in political science and philosophy, she gained hands‑on experience as a resident advisor, student worker, White House intern and undergraduate researcher. A pivotal part of her journey was her involvement with Auburn University Outreach’s Rural Health Initiative, where she spent her junior year helping expand four West Alabama health and wellness centers, planning community events, and creating a Health Ambassadors program. Supported later by Tiger Giving Day donors, she continued contributing to the initiative by compiling data, researching expansion opportunities and keeping communities informed. Her work with the Rural Health Initiative grounded her understanding of community‑centered public health and solidified her goal of returning to rural Alabama after completing her Master of Public Health at Emory University to improve health care access for underserved residents.
