OLLI at Auburn: Learning that inspires

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University (OLLI) is a vibrant membership organization offering engaging courses, social connections, and volunteer opportunities for adults 50 and older— though all are welcome. OLLI enriches lives through programs that spark curiosity, foster intergenerational connections and build strong community partnerships.
In 2025, OLLI served 892 members across two campuses—602 at Auburn and 290 at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). Volunteer instructors contributed 2,812 hours teaching subjects from art and history to health, science, writing and technology.
OLLI’s intergenerational initiative connected members with students through shared learning and graduate teaching roles. This year, OLLI partnered with 22 campus units and six community organizations and launched the OLLI Travels program. Guest lecturers included best-selling author Patti Callahan Henry, renowned artist Blair Hobbs, and Capote Prize-winning writer Patricia Foster.
Research shows lifelong learning improves memory, reduces cognitive decline, and enhances well-being. At OLLI, these benefits come alive through lectures, hands-on workshops and cultural experiences that keep minds active and engaged.
